Snapdragon & Antirrhinum Care Guide

Fresh snapdragons, also known as antirrhinums, are tall, elegant flowers that benefit from plenty of clean water and a cool environment.

On arrival

— Remove all packaging carefully.
— Recut 2–3cm from the base of each stem using clean, sharp floral snips.
— Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
— Place the stems immediately into a clean vase or bucket filled with fresh water and flower food.
— Allow them to hydrate for a few hours before arranging.
— Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators, drafts and ripening fruit.

During vase life

— Check the water level daily.
— Refresh the water every 2–3 days.
— Recut the stems when changing the water.
— Remove any fading lower blooms as the flower spike continues to open upwards.
— Keep the arrangement in a cool position for the best vase life.

Styling tip

Snapdragons naturally open from the bottom of the flower spike upwards. Their tall stems are ideal for adding height, movement and structure to bouquets and vase arrangements.
