Hydrangeas are naturally thirsty flowers with large, generous heads, so good hydration is the key to keeping them fresh, firm and full.

On arrival

— Remove all packaging carefully.
— Recut 2–3cm from the base of each stem using clean, sharp floral snips.
— Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
— Place the stems immediately into a clean vase or bucket with plenty of fresh water and flower food.
— Allow them to hydrate in a cool place for several hours before arranging.
— Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators, drafts and ripening fruit.
— Check the water level daily, as hydrangeas can drink heavily.
— Refresh the water every 1–2 days and recut the stems if needed.

If a hydrangea starts to wilt

Hydrangea heads can sometimes soften if they become dehydrated. Recut the stem and place it back into deep fresh water. For a more dehydrated bloom, you can gently submerge the flower head in cool water for around 20–30 minutes, then return it to a clean vase.

For longer vase life

Keep the vase very clean, never allow the water level to run low, and remove any fading flowers or foliage as they age. Hydrangeas perform best when kept consistently hydrated and away from excessive heat.

Our fresh flowers are seasonal, so availability can change throughout the year.

British-grown flowers in particular follow their natural growing season, and exact timings can vary depending on weather and growing conditions.

Some colours, varieties or stem lengths may also be available for a shorter period than others.

If a flower becomes unavailable, we may temporarily remove it from sale until fresh stock returns.

For weddings, events or larger orders, we recommend ordering as early as possible.
